Josh, a Wells Fargo executive on Long Island, was in the middle of a full remodel when the realization came to him: he was going to have to do something about his carpet situation. It wasn’t the carpet looked bad, it had just been through way too much in recent years, and it had to go.
The glued carpet occupied a 2,000 square foot space in his Long Island home. It had been there when he moved in with his two dogs and had served him well, but when Hurricane Sandy hit in 2012, the carpet sustained considerable damage. He had the carpet professionally cleaned after the storm, but it was just never the same. And when the time came for the remodel, he knew that it was definitely time to replace it. Except, with already so much on his task list, he didn’t want to have to do this himself.
He decided that with the two dogs it would be much easier to go with flooring that would be flood-proof, water-proof, and even dog-proof. He also wanted something that was low-maintenance and easy to clean in case his dogs had any accidents.
He decided to upgrade his flooring.
After talking to Atlantic Concrete Design, Josh chose a conservative metallic epoxy that was subtle without too many effects. It would have a satin finish, which is less shiny than a semi-gloss. High gloss would show more hair and dirt, and with pets around, that was a perk for Josh. Plus, it would be super easy to clean and wouldn’t damage like carpet or tile.
It sounded like a win-win move, and it was.
The project started mid-January – one of the few times that could happen in winter without much interruption – and was ready to go in just three days time. That included the prep, application, finish, and sealing. When the company revealed the finished product to Josh, he couldn’t have been more thrilled.
“Really pleased with how it turned out.” He told them. “Extremely happy!” The dogs, unfortunately, weren’t available for comment.
Concrete floors take the stress out of flooring maintenance. Unlike tile, which is easily damaged, and carpet, which picks up nasty odors and is difficult to clean, concrete makes floor maintenance a no-brainer. It’s no wonder why homeowners and business owners are choosing concrete over more traditional flooring, it’s just too easy to take care of. Plus, with professional installers, the tricky-to-manage work of concrete installation isn’t something you need to worry about.
